259-year old Barn Restoration

“I am not a contractor but a passionate woodworker restoring our old barn and house. I used the Pro Slotter I recently purchased and wow, what an awesome tool! I am cutting and slotting 12” x 12” posts with recessed 8” x 12” T-REX Post to Base connectors. The Hemlock posts are about 12 months air dried and I used an Echo Timberwolf Gas chainsaw.” Simon in NH concludes, “The end result is far better than I expected with this truly simple process. Lakeville Gazebo

Earlier this year pictures were shown of a newly framed 20’ x 20’ Lakeville in TN, an open palette waiting for customization. Jamie recently shared his completed pictures: he opted for a huge stone fireplace with welcoming seating, an outdoor kitchen and lots of room for family-style eating.

It’s always amazing to see what customers can do with a basic frame like the Lakeville offers: carport, guest cottage, artist studio, outdoor entertainment. “It was a fun and rewarding project to complete with my father. Y'alls plans and tools saved us a great deal of time!”

Burnt Wood Beams

Michael in Ontario Canada recently burnt these beams himself and then applied coatings of Minwax Teak oil to preserve them. We look forward to seeing his finished project later in the year.

Custom Pavilion

Sam began this project last year in ID, attractively framed with 7.5” x 7.5” timbers using our custom tooling. Adjacent to his home, the structure has a standing rib aluminum roof providing plenty of covered area for eating and relaxing outdoors.

Pete’s Tips

Glulams are a perfect wood to work with due to their smooth finish and accurate dimensions. To avoid splintering while cutting rough sawn timbers, however, clamp a piece of scrap plywood on the bottom of the beam and your cut will be clean.
